The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM) successfully turned over two Rotary Composters and two Biomass Shredders on November 20, 2024, and signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with CTU Barili. This initiative is part of DA-BSWM’s efforts to promote sustainable agriculture through improved waste management and microbial compost production, contributing to the circular economy approach.
The Project Assistant under the Compost Production Implementation Team (CPIT) of the DA-BSWM Central Office, Mc Reith C. Rodriquez, conducted a thorough inspection of the equipment and verified the readiness and functionality of the machinery.
After the successful inspection, the DA-BSWM Central Visayas facilitated the official turnover ceremony in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barili. The Director of Resource Generation at CTU Barili, Dr. Danny E. Carabio, formally received the equipment on behalf of the university.
The CTU-Barili acquired its units under the DA-BSWM High-Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP).
Following the turnover, signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) solidified the partnership among the involved parties. Dr. Carabio signed as an official representative of CTU-Barili with the President of the CTU student organization, Subang, Mr. Peter John C. Enorio, who signed as a witness underscoring the organization’s support for the Resource Generation Office of the campus.
With CTU-Barili, Barangay Kalubihan also received its equipment under the National Rice Program. The Punong Barangay, Hon. Rebecca S. Barbac, signed as a representative and received the equipment.
This event highlights the collective commitment of DA-BSWM, CTU-Barili Campus, Barangay Kalubihan, and the LGU of Barili to fostering environmentally responsible practices that benefit local communities and the agricultural sector.
The Rotary Composters and Biomass Shredders are expected to be crucial in advancing local initiatives for organic waste recycling and sustainable farming practices. By promoting circular economy principles, the program aligns with the broader goals of achieving environmental sustainability and agricultural resilience.
