Cebu Technological University Barili Campus successfully launched its 1st Entrepreneurship Fair and Food Expo on May 23, 2025, at the CTU Barili Covered Court. With the theme, “Empowering Agri-Food Innovators: Shaping Sustainable Solutions for Tomorrow’s Farms and Tables,” the event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, students, educators, and professionals from the agri-business and food innovation sectors.
The event, spearheaded by the College of Agriculture, Food Science, Agribusiness, and Development Communication (CAFBC), featured a lineup of speakers who gave students and participants valuable knowledge on sustainable agribusiness practices and entrepreneurial strategies. Among them were Dr. Genes M. Pasaje, retired professor of Agricultural Economics and former CTU Barili Campus Director; Mr. Marjune T. Telebrico, CTU Barili alumnus and Provincial Awardee of the Young Farmers Challenge for Cebu Province; and Ms. Noriel Gay Bustillo, Negosyo Center Business Counselor of DTI Cebu.
Mr. Keith E. Delfin, an alumnus of CTU Barili, now the owner of DLFN Northern Acre Integrated Farm, and Mr. John Dave Tanola, owner of Apis Prince Honeybee Farm, also shared their journeys in Agripreneurship, combining agriculture and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to pursue innovative paths in agriculture.
In the afternoon, the Food Expo highlighted the event, which showed various food innovations from students featuring food products made from locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. Overall, 99 food products were displayed and judged. Guests and participants enjoyed the sumptuous products that were available for free tasting.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Maria Lima D. Pascual, Dean of CAFBC, who lauded the participants for their dedication and encouraged continued innovation in food and agribusiness.
The Entrepreneurship Fair and Food Expo emphasized cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets among future agricultural leaders. It marked a significant step for CTU Barili in fostering entrepreneurial spirit and supporting sustainable agri-food initiatives for the future.
