Cebu Technological University (CTU) continues to strengthen its research and extension initiatives following the formalization of a partnership with the Norwegian civil society organization LAMTIB Foundation.
The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by CTU Officer-in-Charge University President Dr. Jonita V. Literatus and LAMTIB Foundation founder Tom Preststulen.
At the center of this partnership is the Santa Cruz Agri-Mari-Hub Project in Ronda, Cebu, LAMTIB’s flagship initiative that promotes regenerative community development by combining sustainable farming, aquaculture, environmental stewardship, and livelihood opportunities.
Under the agreement, CTU will provide technical expertise in agriculture, aquaculture, and related fields to support the hub’s programs. The university will also deploy qualified faculty members and graduates while integrating the project into its instruction, research, and extension programs.
CTU is also expected to develop training modules, assist in monitoring project implementation, and encourage faculty and students to participate in approved community-based activities.
For its part, LAMTIB will provide access to the Agri-Mari-Hub site and its facilities. The organization will support the establishment of greenhouses, training centers, and demonstration facilities, while providing logistical and on-site assistance for CTU personnel and students.
The partnership between CTU and LAMTIB also includes installing processing equipment and machinery at the CTU Barili Campus. These facilities are expected to support the processing of locally produced commodities, including malunggay, sea cucumber products, and other agricultural and marine-based products.
The collaboration builds on earlier discussions in December 2025, where LAMTIB representatives, together with the Norwegian Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Christian Halaas Lyster, visited the CTU Barili Campus to explore areas of cooperation and express support for the proposed partnership.
With the agreement now in place, CTU and LAMTIB aim to work together on long-term initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, and education while creating opportunities that directly benefit local communities in southern Cebu.
