Educators from Cebu Technological University – Barili Campus launched its extension project titled From Classroom Practice to Classroom Research: A Capacity-Building Program for Teachers.
Spearheaded by the project leader, Dr. Rotsenia J. Callao, and the project members, Dr. Margarito B. Callao, Mr. Julius Basallo, and Ms. Jennifer B. Carillo, the team successfully conducted a seminar-writeshop on Action Research in partnership with Federico and Soledad Villaflor Memorial National High School and the Balao National High School. The activity aimed to equip teachers with the knowledge and practical skills to conduct action research to improve classroom instruction and student learning outcomes.
The seminar-writeshop provided participants with hands-on training on identifying classroom issues, formulating research problems, developing appropriate research methodologies, and preparing action research proposals. Through interactive discussions and guided workshops, teachers learned how to transform everyday classroom experiences into meaningful research that supports informed instructional decisions and continuous professional growth.
The highlight of the event was the keynote lecture of Dr. Nahershalalhashbas M. Auman, an Education Program Specialist in Planning and Research, who delivered an inspiring presentation on empowering teachers through action research. Dr. Auman emphasized the vital role of teachers as researchers, encouraging participants to systematically investigate classroom challenges and use research findings to enhance teaching effectiveness and learner achievement.
At the end of the seminar, participants began drafting their own action research proposals, marking the first step in their journey toward becoming teacher-researchers committed to generating evidence-based solutions for their classrooms and schools.
This collaboration between CTU Barili Campus and its partner schools reflects a shared commitment to advancing educational quality through research and professional development.
