The Cebu Technological University Barili campus added another feather to its cap by the successful blessing and inauguration of the veterinary medicine building and the first animal hospital in the Province of Cebu on August 3, 2026.
The 67-million-GAA-funded three-storey facility housed the clinical and diagnostic units on the ground floor. It features a reception and waiting area, examination rooms, x-ray, and surgery suites, and dedicated wards for both infectious and non-infectious cases. Meanwhile, the 2nd floor will be used as an academic hub. It houses an audio-visual room, upgraded laboratory spaces, faculty rooms, and a conference room. The 3rd floor is designed for advanced research, equipped for specialized studies in anatomy, pathology, and microbiology.
During her speech, Dr. Ruby Destajo, the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Dean, highlighted that the modern veterinary medicine facility was built to bridge classroom learning with hands-on clinical practice.
Present during the blessing and inauguration was Atty. Pablo John Garcia, former 3rd district representative, Hon. Pablo John Garcia IV, Municipal Mayor of Barili, Atty. Jemco Gabales, Dr. Jonita V. Literatus, CTU OIC-University President, Campus Director Dr. Romeo Lepiten, and CTU officials, faculty, and students.
The inauguration of the modern veterinary medicine facility is a testament to CTU Barili’s commitment to nurturing knowledge, championing animal welfare, and uplifting communities.
