The CTU-Carmen Campus Gender and Development (GAD) Office was tapped by BFAR-7-Regional Fisheries Training Fisherfolk Coordination Division and Fisheries Post Harvest and Marketing Division for conducting Skills Training on Bangus Processing and Preservation on March 29-31, 2022, at the Research and Development Building.

Thirty-eight female participants from the faculty and staff have completed the training and enjoyed making fish processing products. The fish products include bottled Bangus in corn oil and tomato sauce, fish crackers, fish embutido and relyenong bangus.

The total budget for the three-day activity amounted to Php 165, 961 was provided by the Gender and Development Office.

“We have chosen to fund the Bangus processing and preservation because we have to utilize our raw materials during the training and preparation,” Mrs Inso, the head of the GAD Office, said.

“For our Income-Generating Project, the activity enables us to have the production and to extend it to the community,” she added.

In coordination with BFAR-7 and the College of Fisheries and Applied Sciences, the said activity was pushed through as part of the celebration and the closing culmination of the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration.
