CADTEC 15th Student Teacher’s Congress

LOOK: Student teachers from thirty-nine (39) campuses in Region VII gathered at the Cebu Coliseum on February 28, 2025, for the 15th Student-Teachers’ Congress organized by the Council of Administrators and Deans for Teacher Education Colleges (CADTEC) VII in cooperation with the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) VII. The event was held under the theme, “CADTEC @15: Empowering Future Educators for Success.”

Dr. Deletah Polinar, CADTEC president, delivered the welcome remarks, encouraging students and teachers to design innovative strategies for diverse learners. Prof. Judith Dabon, the CADTEC Secretary, introduced the participants from different institutions of Cebu and Bohol. “Let us celebrate CADTEC’s commitment to interest and the shared goal of empowering novice teachers,” she added.

Dr. Bernard S. Pantonilla, a CHED Education Supervisor, reminded the attendees that educators do not only impart knowledge but also shape the lives of future generations. He highlighted three actions for success: first, to embrace the role of an agent of change; second, to develop a growth mindset; and lastly, to inspire and lead by example.

Dr. Jestoni P. Babia elaborated on the direction of teacher education institutions for the development of future educators and discussed the (COE) Center of Excellence and (COD) Center of Development. The second speakers were the Coordinators for Special Programs at the University of Mindanao and members of PAFTE Region 12, the Falculan twins—Dr. Theresa Falculan Misola and Dr. Kathleen Falculan Hijosa—who spoke on the topic “Focus on Strategies and Practices for a Successful Milestone.”

The third group of speakers featured successful teachers who shared their journeys, including Dr. Maricel Fabre-Deloso, Prof. Elna Sabornido, and Mr. Erwin Macua. Mr. Macua, who transitioned from a security guard to a teacher, also shared his experience of becoming a Nescafe endorser.

Dr. Fitzgerald Kintanar, the resource person for “Pathways to Success: Inspiring Educator Stories of Excellence,” provided fundamental lessons for student teachers to apply in their careers.

Dr. Lynnette Camello delivered the closing remarks, expressing her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

The 15th Student-Teachers’ Congress left the participants motivated and better equipped for their journey as future educators, reinforcing the importance of dedication, innovation, and lifelong learning in the teaching profession. #DG.Selle
