In a bid to promote heart health and emergency preparedness, Cebu Technological University (CTU) Carmen Campus held a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Awareness Lecture and Demonstration on February 25, 2025, at the Banaag Gym. The event was part of the university’s Heart Health Month observance, aiming to provide National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) students with essential life-saving skills.

The session kicked off with Campus Nurse Faisah L. Pantaleon leading the preliminaries, setting the tone for an insightful learning experience. Dr. Benjie Ociones, NSTP Director, then took the stage to highlight the importance of CPR training, emphasizing how quick action can mean the difference between life and death.

Guiding the participants through the intricacies of Basic Life Support (BLS) were officers from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Carmen Fire Station. FO3 Edem Marie N. Densing delivered a lecture on emergency response principles, followed by a hands-on demonstration from FO2 Mar Dave G. Comendador. Students eagerly took turns practicing CPR on mannequins, refining their technique under the guidance of the BFP team.

As the session wrapped up, CTU-Carmen honored the BFP personnel with certificates of appreciation, acknowledging their role in equipping students with practical emergency skills. Mr. Reynerio Abayon Jr., Director of Student Affairs and Services, reinforced the significance of CPR training, underscoring the university’s commitment to health and safety awareness.

With this initiative, the university continues to foster a culture of preparedness, ensuring students are ready to step up in times of crisis.
