CTU Carmen’s BS Marine Engineering Faculty and Personnel Conduct Benchmarking at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation – Bacolod

In its continuous pursuit of academic excellence and the enhancement of maritime education, Cebu Technological University (CTU) – Carmen Campus conducted a Benchmarking Activity at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (JBLCF) in Bacolod City on July 2–3, 2025. The activity was attended by faculty and personnel from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) program.

The benchmarking visit aimed to gain insights and learn best practices from JBLCF, a premier maritime institution known for its strong academic programs, cutting-edge training facilities, and compliance with international maritime standards. The activity forms part of CTU’s strategic initiatives to strengthen program implementation, improve instructional delivery, and ensure alignment with industry requirements and global trends.

During the two-day engagement, CTU participants were given an in-depth orientation on the academic structure, curriculum design, and quality assurance mechanisms of JBLCF. Highlights of the visit included a guided tour of the college’s advanced maritime training equipment and simulators, as well as interactive sessions with key faculty members and administrators. The exchange of experiences also focused on student performance monitoring, faculty development, and effective management of laboratories and workshops.

The activity concluded with a collaborative discussion on future partnerships and possible faculty and student exchanges between the two institutions. The CTU team expressed its appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by JBLCF and lauded the institution’s commitment to educational innovation and maritime excellence.

The benchmarking activity is expected further to enhance the BS Marine Engineering program at CTU – Carmen Campus by incorporating proven strategies and best practices observed at JBLCF – Bacolod.
