In Barangay Ipil, a simple cup of milk tea became more than just a refreshing drink—it became a symbol of empowerment and a recipe for livelihood. Through the “Sip and Share: Empowering Communities through Milk Tea Entrepreneurship” program, members of the Ipil Women’s Association discovered how a popular beverage could open doors to business opportunities and self-sufficiency. Spearheaded by the Hospitality Management Department with Ms. Maricris D. Colipano as lead proponent, and supported by the Industrial Technology Department, the training ran from June 27 to August 8, 2025. Over eight dynamic sessions, Hospitality Management and IT students guided participants through hands-on activities, equipping them with practical skills, business know-how, and the confidence to turn milk tea making into a profitable venture.

From the very first orientation on food safety, sanitation, work ethics, and livelihood prospects, participants embarked on a flavorful learning journey. They mastered Classic Milk Teas such as Black, Wintermelon, Okinawa, Red Velvet, Chocolate, and Matcha; explored fruity creations like Strawberry, Mango, and Lychee; and experimented with herbal infusions including Blue Ternate, Kerson Leaf, and Ginger Lemon. Creativity took center stage in innovation sessions, yielding unique blends such as Strawberry-Lemon, Choco-Cheesecake, and Blue Ternate-Lychee. The program culminated on August 8 with a closing ceremony and awarding of certificates, sending participants home with more than recipes—they carried with them the vision, skills, and determination to brew opportunities for their families and communities, one cup at a time.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Anthony S. Ilano, CTU Carmen Campus Director; Hon. Eulogio I. Entero, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Ipil; and Ms. Hermalin Bayo, President of the Ipil Women’s Association, for their unwavering support and commitment to the success of this initiative. Their leadership and encouragement helped ensure that this program not only enriched skills but also strengthened community ties, proving that shared effort can transform small beginnings into lasting opportunities.
