The Hospitality Management Extension Program of Cebu Technological University (CTU) Carmen Campus successfully conducted the Livelihood and Functional Education (LIFE) Skills Training in Bread and Pastry Phase III, spearheaded by Dr. Auda Mae P. Signe in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Faculty. The program’s beneficiaries, composed of women from Brgy. Cantipay, Carmen, Cebu, all successfully passed the National Certificate II (NC II) in Bread and Pastry Production, achieving a 100% passing rate. Student assistants also contributed as demonstrators during the pre-assessment, adding valuable support to the training.
The training officially started with an Opening Program on August 15, 2025, and was followed by a series of intensive sessions:
August 17 – Training on Soft Roll and Dinner Roll
August 22 – Training on Chiffon Cake and Swiss Roll
August 23 – Training on Petite Fours and Purple Yam & Sweet Potato Cookies
August 24 – Training on Chiffon Cake and Swiss Roll with Swiss Buttercream Icing
August 30 – Institutional Training and Assessment (Batch 1)
August 31 – Institutional Training and Assessment (Batch 2)
September 7 – National Training and Assessment for Bread and Pastry Production (Batch 1)
September 8 – National Training and Assessment for Bread and Pastry Production (Batch 2)
September 9 – Closing Program
The LIFE Skills Training highlights CTU’s commitment to empowering women in the community by providing industry-based training, entrepreneurial skills, and recognized certifications that can open doors to livelihood and employment opportunities.
Special thanks were extended to Dr. Anthony S. Ilano, CTU Carmen Campus Director, the Cantipay Women’s Association led by Vice President Ms. Girlie Guantero, and Hon. Roger Menchavez, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Cantipay, for their unwavering support and partnership in making the program a success.
This milestone not only reflects the quality of training and dedication of CTU faculty but also celebrates the determination of the women of Brgy. Cantipay to transform their skills into meaningful opportunities for their families and community.
