Integrated Coastal and Marine Resources Management (ICMRM)

Vision:

Sustainable management of coastal resources that subsequently will be translated into increased income for coastal communities in the region.

Mission:

The CTU- ICRM Center shall become the hub for biodiversity monitoring and research, training and demonstration activities, and focal institution for information, education, and communication activities.

Goals:

  • Establish a sustainably managed RIC by a pool of experts on ICRM;
  • Support and promote the ICRM initiatives of local government units and coastal communities;
  • Initiate and mobilize the RICnet in undertaking ICRM related activities and projects; and sustain the best practices of ICRM in Region VII.

Center for Cloud Computing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence

Vision:

The Center for Cloud Computing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence is to set up a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary research and development that seeks to resolve emerging technologies to solve some of the challenges that affect the governance, social networks, farming sector and other related sectors. The center intends to transform, improve and embrace sustainability across the business process using cloud and big data, artificial intelligence solutions.

Mission:

The Center for Cloud Computing, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to advance Artificial Intelligence and Big Data research by creating industry-aligned Artificial intelligence (AI) applications that solve community problems. The center aims to create computing solutions that can tackle the issues of agriculture, fishery, governance, social networks and other industries. The center also aims to educate IT professors to have the core competencies needed in developing AI applications. Through intensive relationships with the industry, university, and government.

Goals:

By the end of 2026, 30% of Information Technology professors will be actively engaged in research and will have published at least one research paper in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, IT and Computer Science students will be encouraged and supported to develop innovative AI solutions as part of their academic projects, with a focus on creating AI and cloud computing applications that benefit other sectors.

Objectives:

  • Innovation and Research Excellence: Encourage the creation of new knowledge by strengthening the research agenda of cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence and to pursue its practical application in fisheries, agriculture and other pertinent sectors.
  • Technology Incubation and Commercialization: Create a technology incubation hub to support startups and innovators in developing and commercializing new solutions that leverage cloud computing, big data, and AI.
  • Data Infrastructure and Platforms: Develop robust data infrastructure and platforms to facilitate the collection, storage, analysis, and sharing of large datasets across different sectors.
  • Education and Training: Train IT professors to develop core competencies in creating Artificial Intelligence models. Integrate Artificial Intelligence into all computing programs.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Cultivate intellectual collaborations with universities, industries, state and non-state agencies with a view of enhancing a paradigm shift in social transformation and practical applicability of research outcomes.
