The journey of Cebu State College of Science and Technology (CSCST), now known as Cebu Technological University (CTU), toward quality assurance and international standards began in the early 2000s as part of its institutional commitment to excellence in education, administration, and public service.
Recognizing the growing need for globally recognized quality management systems, CSCST embarked on the process of aligning its operations with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. The college aimed to institutionalize a systematic approach to managing academic and support services, ensuring consistency, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
CSCST earned its first ISO 9001 certification in the mid-2000s, marking a major milestone in the institution’s quality assurance efforts. This certification validated that the institution’s key processes—from academic instruction to administrative support—met international standards of efficiency and quality.
When CSCST was converted into Cebu Technological University (CTU) through Republic Act No. 9744 in 2009, the university carried forward its commitment to ISO compliance. The transformation into a university strengthened its resolve to pursue excellence not only in instruction but also in research, extension, and production—further aligning with the standards of ISO 9001.
As the ISO standard itself evolved, CTU likewise transitioned to ISO 9001:2015, the updated version emphasizing risk-based thinking, process approach, and stakeholder satisfaction. The university underwent various surveillance and re-certification audits, with campuses including the CTU Carmen Campus actively participating in the continual improvement process.
In December 2024, CTU Carmen Campus together with other ten campuses was successfully re-certified by TÜV Rheinland for ISO 9001:2015, affirming its sustained commitment to international standards in quality management and service delivery.
This legacy of ISO certification reflects CTU’s unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and accountability—values that continue to guide the university in its pursuit of excellence across all campuses.
