Last August 4, 2025, Cebu Technological University (CTU) recently held the GAD Summit with the theme โGAD Matters: Empowering CTU Through Gender Advocacy.โ The summit brought together Gender and Development (GAD) advocates and key personnel from various CTU campuses for a collaborative exchange of ideas and best practices supporting the universityโs gender and development initiatives.
Highlighting the universityโs commitment to GAD, CTU President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito graced the event and delivered a message of support and encouragement for the ongoing gender advocacy work being carried out across campuses. His presence underscored the administrationโs recognition of the importance of gender-responsive policies in higher education.
Serving as the eventโs resource speaker was Mrs. Maria Enriquita Myrel Siason, a member of the National GAD Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW). She led insightful discussions on key GAD tools such as the Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF), GAD Focal Point System Assessment Tool (GFAST), and Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG). Siason emphasized the importance of aligning campus programs and initiatives with national GAD frameworks and standards.
Representing their campus at the summit were Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina (Campus Director), Ms. Luz P. Roldan (GAD Chairperson), Dr. Kenny Kiamco (OIC, PERG Chairperson), Dr. Donna Mae Tagsip (Faculty), and Mr. Roland Recamara (Budget Officer). The delegation actively participated in the sessions, contributing to discussions and sharing insights on strengthening gender advocacy at the campus level.
The summit served as a timely reminder of CTUโs shared responsibility in fostering a more gender-responsive and inclusive academic environmentโreinforcing the universityโs commitment to equality, empowerment, and meaningful change across all levels.
