



Following the recent Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing, Cebu Technological University (CTU) Consolacion officially launched the first session of the GUSLA: Gastronomic Understanding and Skills for Lifelong Application at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Consolacion on August 22, 2025.
The session began with ๐ซ๐. ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐, Dean of Instruction (DOI) of CTU Consolacion, who delivered an insightful overview of the GUSLA Project, emphasizing its role as a sustainable community extension program designed to equip Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with practical knowledge and skills. He also introduced the team of faculty extensionistas who will be facilitating various sessions throughout the program.
Highlighting the first dayโs learning activity, ๐ท๐๐๐. ๐ซ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), conducted a lecture on the dos and donโts in the kitchen. His discussion focused on food safety, proper hygiene, and basic kitchen practices that are essential in both livelihood and rehabilitation contexts.
Adding to the collaborative spirit of the initiative, ๐ด๐. ๐น๐๐๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐ and ๐ด๐. ๐ฎ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Department were also present, showing cross-departmental support in ensuring the projectโs success.
The GUSLA Project aims to foster rehabilitation through education, skills training, and values formation, creating meaningful opportunities for PDLs to reintegrate into society with dignity and purpose. The successful start of the program signals a strong partnership between CTU Consolacion and BJMP Consolacion in advancing community engagement and social transformation.
