“There is no harm in trying!” These were the words from BSEd Math students who victoriously grabbed top places in the virtual academic challenges during the Educators’ Week from December 6 until December 10, 2021, dubbed “keeping bonds, strengthening aptitudes”.
The BSEd Math students celebrated their triumphant involvement in the academic contests joined by other programs- the BEEd and the BTLEd of both the mother and extension campuses.
Rogelio C. Sala Jr., BSEd Math Chair, felt happy and proud of his students’ well-done job despite the short preparation period. For him, his students’ winning indicated that they have truly learned.
“Do your best. ‘Win or lose’ by joining not only will you prove your learning but also you will learn and grow,” Sala said in his short meeting with his students before the contests started.
These are the recognition get by the students: Cifas M. Booc consistently earned first place in spoken word poetry; Mhea Marie A. Sumampong won first place in a singing contest and recorded storytelling; Jenelyn Torres and Danica Rose J. Condino landed first place in instructional materials making; Jerick Niño R. Bojos bagged first place in impromptu speaking; Mycri Canete and Felicity U. Pino bagged first and second place respectively on essay writing while the most commendable debater goes to Junhel Camay.
The BSEd Math group excelled in teaching demonstration and Quiz bowl for academic team contests.
Jezyl Munasque, Geraldine Pepito and Hyalite Ann Orbeta were the teams of teaching demonstrators. At the same time, Nino Jay Coyoca, Rose Ann Ygot, Chatnie Pilapil, and Berly Potestad scored the highest in the three categories of the quiz bowl.
According to Sumampong, she had no idea of winning the singing contest and the recorded storytelling; it was a blessing as a first-timer, and she felt deeply honoured to represent her program and section.
“I honestly did not have enough time to prepare for the competition, which made me contemplate my decision, but my family and friends kept me going. As a result, I took the opportunity and gave my all. It took me a few hours to finish and submit my entries for both the singing competition and the recorded storytelling. Fortunately, the effort was paid off with immense delight. The fact that CTU gave us this opportunity to show off everyone’s talent made me feel so good and boosted my confidence,” Sumampong shared in an interview with her.
The mode of conducting the activity never stopped the students from actively participating. The College’ committed faculty members take turns in managing the weeklong celebration of activities with the theme “To keep the bonds despite distance and unleash students’ potentials” via Zoom.
