To facilitate the Department of Health’s recruitment of blood donors, Cebu Technological University (CTU) Daanbantayan Campus hosts an orientation on the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (DOH).
The College of Education (COED) and College of Technology and Engineering (COTE) students were assembled at the CTU Daanbantayan Gymnasium today, February 7, 2023, to learn about the significance of blood donation.
Blood donation is crucial, says resource speaker Mr. John Laurence T. Ancajas, a registered nurse at the Central Visayas Center for Health Development. Republic Act Number 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994, is described by the speaker as a law regulating blood banks and encouraging voluntary blood donations to ensure an adequate supply of safe blood. This action aims to raise public awareness of the humanitarian nature of blood donation.
Ancajas goes into more detail on the purpose and vision of voluntary blood donation. He further urges, “Join the effort and save lives. Donating blood is an act of solidarity.” In addition, the following speaker during the orientation, Dr. Reginald Cordova, Medical Officer II from DOH Regional Office VII, talks about the different sorts of donors and the patients who require blood donations. Additionally, he declares the prerequisites for blood donors.
The event is a success under the direction of the Campus Director, Dr. Ruben M. UNgui and the school nurse, Ms. Maricel Palermo. Dr. Rogelio C. Sala, Jr. and Prof. Felixberto T. Lucabon Jr., Assistant Campus Director and Dean of Instruction, respectively, welcome everyone to the program with the highest enthusiasm.
