CTU DB Commemorates 125th Philippine Independence Day with Pride

“Ang pagmamahal sa inang bayan ay hindi sapilitan sapagkat ito ay kailangan at nararapat,” eloquently stated Mr. Deo Aton III, a teacher at Maya National High School and the master of ceremonies, during the momentous celebration of the 125th Philippine Independence Day. The event took place at the Municipal Plaza in Poblacion, Daanbantayan, Cebu on June 12, 2023.

The commemoration witnessed enthusiastic participation and involvement from various esteemed individuals and organizations, including the Reserved Office Training Corps members, Daanbantayan Municipal Officials, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Local Government Unit Employees, Barangay Officials, Principals and Teachers from the Daanbantayan Districts I and II, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, and Bureau of Fire Protection. This collective effort demonstrated the unity and patriotic spirit that characterized the celebration.

To initiate the event, a thanksgiving service was held at the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Rosa De Lima, Daanbantayan, Cebu, followed by a solemn procession.

Highlighting the rich diversity of Daanbantayan, several schools showcased performances that reflected the customs and traditions of the Filipino people. These vibrant displays added color and cultural significance to the festivities, celebrating the Philippines’ heritage and national identity.

The 125th Philippine Independence Day celebration holds immense significance as it serves as a reminder that the Filipinos achieved liberation from Spanish rule after enduring 333 years of colonization. This historic milestone, publicly announced on June 12, 1898, marked the birth of an independent Philippines.

As the nation commemorates this momentous occasion, let the Philippine flag soar with pride, symbolizing the indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to freedom and nationhood.

Philippines, hoist your flag!
