
Behind the remarkable performances of Dr. Garry De la Cerna and Dr. Decem C. Suladay, the duo snatched the gold in the lawn tennis professional category, men’s doubles with a standing of 3 wins and 0 losses the in the recently concluded Summer President’s Cup held at CTU San Francisco Campus on May 26-27, 2022.
The duo ruled to a three-straight win against its opponent from other CTU campuses. It was a collaborative effort between the two players to attain a winning streak.
In the championship round, a series of drop shots by De la Cerna and countless rallies by Suladay overwhelmed CTU Main Campus which gave a bottleneck lead of 7-1. A final score of 8-3 hailed the CTU Danao team as champion.
“I did not expect the outcome of our game with Dr. Suladay, for me the ability, the enthusiasm, and the skill I poster on that game was not mine it’s the grace from God. I know He’s responsible and behind my winning, what I have achieved on that game came from God and I’m so grateful to Him, thank you Lord for the championship” said Dr. Dela Cerna in an interview.
For the beginners’ category, men’s doubles, Michael Suson and Guilbert Bontia carved their success with a bronze medal following a standing of 4 wins 2 losses and scored 8-3 in their last game for the third place.
The table tennis team also shared the limelight with its bronze medal. The team composed of Sarah Jane Colina, Arnold Batac, Jose Leo Juntilla, and Garry De la Cerna paved its success with a standing of 3 wins and 2 losses. It was indeed a good game, described the team members after they win and ranked third.
