Cebu Technological University joins Christmas Tree Lighting at the Malacañang Palace

A night of dazzle and splendor wrapped the Kalayaan Grounds in the Malacañang Palace as the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony unfolds on November 25, 2023 spearheaded by the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

State Universities and Colleges were given the opportunity to join in the Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin National Parol Making Contest where Cebu Technological University Danao Campus proudly joined. With a team of four selected students, the group made a parol out of available resources in the locality. The awarding of winners and the symbolic lighting of the Christmas tree serves as the official start of the yuletide season of the country.

Representing Cebu Technological University are Dr. Sarah Jane A. Colina, Student Development Director and Information Communication and Public Affairs Chairperson of CTU Danao Campus, together with Ms. Nicole Baguio, a BIT Drafting student and one of the four creators of the campus’s parol entry. Both graced the occasion and proudly showcased CTU’s creative prowess among the 86 exquisitely crafted Christmas lanterns from various state universities and colleges nationwide.

Led by the Office of the President, Office of the Social Secretary, and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the event was elevated by the enchanting melodies of Filipino music icons, Jose Mari Chan, Rita Daniela, Coro de San Jacinto, and the Cagayan State University Chorale who serenaded the esteemed guests, including the President, the First Family, Cabinet members, esteemed dignitaries and invited guests.

The brilliance of CTU’s representation alongside the nationwide creative spirit emphasized the unity and artistry ingrained in Filipino traditions. As the country embraces the warmth of the season, the radiance of the parols symbolizes hope, unity, and the Filipino spirit that shines brightly during this joyous time.

The merging of talent, culture, and holiday spirit at Malacañang Palace heralds a season of shared aspirations and goodwill, further brightens the nation with the glow of unity and creativity.
