GAD Office hosts symposium in solidarity with violence against women

Cebu Technological University CTU Danao campus stood united against gender-based violence as it spearheads a one-day symposium on December 7, 2023 as part of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. The event, held under the leadership of Gender and Development (GAD) Director, Engr. Delfa G. Castilla, with the theme “Empowering our Community: Seminar on Combating Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC ACT) RA 9262.”

The symposium is an initiative in advocating for women’s safety and rights, featured distinguished speakers renowned for their expertise in gender equality and legal perspectives. Leading the morning session was Dr. Marlou C. Godinez, University GAD Director of Cebu Tech, who delivered insights on critical issues and strategies in addressing violence against women.

The afternoon session was guided by Atty. Joelie Marie Y. Medalle, a Legal Officer of significant standing, whose discourse shed light on the legal aspects and provisions aimed at safeguarding women and children against any form of abuse or violence.

Engr. Delfa G. Castilla, the driving force behind the seminar, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed speakers. She honored their contributions by presenting certificates of recognition and tokens of gratitude, acknowledging their role in enlightening and empowering the attendees.

The event drew participation from the dedicated regular non-teaching personnel and job orders of CTU Danao Campus, showcasing a collective commitment to advocate for a safer, more equitable community.
