CTU-Danao Holds Internship Orientation to Prepare Students for Professional Success

Through the joint efforts of all colleges involved and the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Cebu Technological University-Danao Campus effectively conducted the Internship Orientation 2025 on May 13-14, 2025, at the Students’ Activity Center (SAC). This endeavor was meant to induct incoming interns into real working situations by making them aware of legal protection, workplace etiquette, and safety protocols.

It began with the preliminaries and welcoming remarks from the respective department chairpersons. Engr. Donald Lalican spoke on behalf of the College of Engineering about character, responsibility, and readiness for the internship.

Engr. Delfa Castilla, Campus GAD Director, presented the Statement of Purpose after welcoming and identifying seminar objectives, such as equipping students with tools to navigate workplace dynamics with confidence and dignity while being aware of their rights.

She talked about the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) and how it empowers students with knowledge regarding their rights and protection against gender-based harassment, in all its forms, at work and in public places. Moreover, she discussed Work Ethics and focused on professionalism, punctuality, teamwork, and respect in the workplace.

At the end of the seminar, Engr. Delfa Castilla delivered a very informative lecture on occupational safety and health: the essentials of workplace safety protocols, risk management, and the view of a safe and healthy working environment.

The orientation program was organized according to its clusters and conducted for two days. On May 13, the College of Technology conducted the first part, where the students from BIT-Drafting, BIT-Electronics, and BS Mechatronics attended morning sessions. Students from BIT-Electrical and BIT-Computer attended afternoon sessions. On May 14, the College of Engineering had its morning orientation for students undergoing BS Industrial Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, and BS Civil Engineering. Later in the day, orientation sessions were scheduled for the BS Hospitality Management and BS Tourism Management students.

The Internship Orientation 2025 served not only as a formal opening to students for deployment but also as a reinforcement of their knowledge concerning workplace rights, responsibilities, and professional standards. This is one way CTU-Danao continues to fulfill its commitment to holistic, student-centered, and gender-responsive education.
