Selected male persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology (BJMP) Danao City Jail–Male Dormitory have successfully completed the two-day bread and pastry production skills training conducted by Cebu Technological University-Danao Campus under the extension program “SAKPI sa BJMP” Phase 9, held on May 30 and June 2, 2025.
The training was designed for PDLs who will soon be released. It is aimed at helping these individuals gain skills that could be used to earn a living after reintegration into society.
During the training, participants learned to make soft rolls, chiffon cakes, Swiss rolls, and Swiss meringue buttercream, and practiced icing application.
The sessions were led by Prof. Christine Castro, Prof. Grace Lawas, and Prof. Jenler Tamundoc, who first demonstrated the baking procedures. The participants then performed the tasks on their own as a return demonstration.

After the training, the participants will undergo an assessment conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for a National Certification (NC) II in Bread and Pastry Production.
