CTU Danao Strengthens Gender-Responsive Community Planning through HGDG Integration Seminar-Workshop (Day 1 & Day 2)

The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Danao, through its Extension Services Office, successfully conducted the first two days of the “Community Extension Proposal Review and HGDG Integration: Seminar-Workshop on Gender-Responsive Project Planning 2026” via Google Meet on October 27–28, 2025, with EnP Ruel Javier Rigor serving as the resource speaker. The activity underscores the university’s continuing commitment to promoting inclusive, participatory, and gender-responsive approaches in its community extension initiatives.

This three-day seminar-workshop aims to enhance faculty members’ capacities in crafting and refining extension project proposals for 2026 through the application of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) framework. By integrating gender considerations in planning, implementation, and evaluation, CTU Danao ensures that its extension programs contribute to equitable and sustainable community development.

Day 1: Crafting and Submission of Proposals

The first day of the seminar-workshop, held on October 27, 2025, focused on the crafting and submission of extension project proposals. Faculty participants from various departments engaged in guided workshops designed to refine their project concepts while applying the HGDG checklist.

Under the facilitation of the Extension Services Office, participants revisited their initial proposals, identifying gender gaps and incorporating responsive interventions aligned with HGDG standards. Through the guidance of EnP Ruel Javier Rigor, participants gained deeper insights into proposal structuring, objective formulation, and gender-based impact analysis.

By the end of Day 1, participants successfully submitted their draft proposals for preliminary review, marking a productive start toward developing comprehensive and gender-sensitive project plans for 2026.

Day 2: Presentation and Evaluation of Proposals

On October 28, 2025, the second day centered on the presentation and evaluation of extension project proposals. Each participating group presented its revised outputs before a panel of evaluators composed of the extension coordinator and its resource speaker.

The evaluator assessed the proposals using the HGDG evaluation tool, focusing on the integration of gender perspectives, clarity of objectives, and alignment with community needs. Constructive feedback was provided to help participants strengthen their project framework and ensure their proposals meet both institutional and national gender development standards.

The session also fostered meaningful discussions among participants, promoting cross-departmental collaboration and idea-sharing in designing gender-equitable community programs.

Through this seminar-workshop, CTU Danao Campus continues to advance its mission of delivering sustainable, inclusive, and gender-responsive extension services. The two-day activity not only empowered faculty members to improve their project design and implementation skills but also reaffirmed the university’s dedication to integrating gender sensitivity in all facets of community engagement.
