CTU Danao Empowers Faculty on Gender-Responsive Project Design through HGDG Application Seminar (Day 3)

The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Danao Campus, through its Extension Services Office, successfully concluded the three-day seminar-workshop titled “Community Extension Proposal Review and HGDG Integration: Seminar-Workshop on Gender-Responsive Project Planning 2026” with the final session conducted via Google Meet on October 30, 2025.

The Day 3 session, themed “Use of the HGDG Generic and Sector-Specific Checklists: Applying GAD Elements in Program/Project Design,” featured Prof. Marlou C. Godinez, GAD Chairperson of CTU-Daanbantayan Campus, as the resource speaker.

Prof. Godinez delivered an in-depth discussion on the application of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) in program and project design, emphasizing how gender analysis can be effectively integrated into every stage of the project cycle. Her presentation underscored the importance of utilizing the HGDG generic and sector-specific checklists to ensure that proposed initiatives are not only gender-sensitive but also contribute to reducing gender disparities in communities.

An open forum followed the presentation, providing participants with the opportunity to raise questions and seek further clarification on the proper use of the HGDG tools in assessing and developing their extension project proposals. Prof. Godinez also shared practical strategies for integrating Gender and Development (GAD) elements into project objectives, activities, and monitoring frameworks—empowering faculty members to translate theoretical insights into actionable, measurable, and gender-responsive outcomes.

The final day of the seminar-workshop also served as a platform for reflection and synthesis, where participants shared their learnings from the three-day activity and expressed their commitment to integrating gender responsiveness into their future extension undertakings.

Through this culminating session, CTU Danao Campus reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender-responsive community engagement by equipping its faculty members with the necessary knowledge and tools for inclusive project planning and implementation. The activity further aligns with the university’s goal of promoting gender equality as a cornerstone of its extension services and institutional development.
