The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Danao Campus, through its Extension Services, continues to promote community empowerment and cultural appreciation through its extension initiative, “๐๐๐ซ๐๐จ ๐ฌ๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฒ๐จ๐ง: ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ ๐๐จ๐ค๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ฒ๐๐ ,” held on ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐. The project highlights the production of beautifully handcrafted souvenir items that celebrate Danao City’s notable tourist destinations and local figures, reinforcing pride in local culture and heritage.
The extension project was spearheaded by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ ๐. ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐จ, with the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) faculty serving as proponents, and facilitated by Dr. Peachy C. Ernacio, Prof. Michael Suson, and Prof. Michael Almacen. It was implemented for the benefit of Barangay Danasan, in partnership with Barangay Danasan and the Danao City LGU Tourism Office.
The initiative showcases souvenirs personally made by the youth of Barangay Danasan, who were carefully trained and mentored by Prof. Solamo and her dedicated extension team. “Garbo sa Destinasyon” serves as a meaningful platform for young Danawanons to express their creativity and craftsmanship while deepening their appreciation of local culture, heritage, and tourism. Beyond skills development, the project strengthens the youths’ sense of identity and community pride, empowering them to become active contributors to local tourism promotion.
Throughout the project, the youth transformed stories, places, and notable personalities of Danao City into tangible, culturally rich products. The initiative not only enhanced their technical and creative skills but also nurtured their confidence and responsibility as young cultural ambassadors.
The successful production of these souvenir items underscores CTU Danao’s commitment to community-centered programs that integrate education, culture, and sustainable local development. Through collaborative efforts with its partners, Garbo sa Destinasyon stands as a testament to how local talent and heritage can be harnessed to promote tourism, empower the youth, and celebrate the rich identity of Danao City.
