Cebu Technological University (CTU)-Danao Campus played a key role in organizing the SIDLAK Danao 2026 National Women’s Month Opening Program and Parade on March 3, bringing together representatives from government agencies, schools, and community organizations in a citywide show of support for women’s empowerment and gender equality.
The activity began at 7:00 a.m. with a parade that started at Mano Amon Plaza and proceeded through the city streets before culminating at the Danao City Civic Center, where the opening ceremony was held. Participants from various sectors joined the march, reflecting the strong collaboration among institution and community groups in advancing gender-responsive initiatives in the city.





This year’s local theme, “Konektadong Babaye, Luwas ug Lambo nga Danao,” compliments the national theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” highlighting the importance of collective action in promoting women’s safety, empowerment, and participation in development.
The program opened with an energetic opening salvo by the CTU-Danao Dance Troupe, setting a vibrant tone for the celebration. This was followed by the welcome and inspirational message delivered by Danao City Vice Mayor Hon. Carmen Remedios “Ivy” H. Durano, who emphasized the significant role of women in strengthening families and communities, noting that empowering women contributes to the continued progress of the city.
A highlight of the program was the presentation of cluster “yells,” during which participating groups showcased creativity, unity, enthusiasm as they represented their respective sectors. Ten clusters participated in the activity. Cluster 1 represented national agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippines National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Jail Management of Penology (BJMP), and other offices in Danao City. Cluster 2 compromised youth organizations such as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), the Danao City Youth Commision (DCYC), and the Girl Scouts. Cluster 3 represented the Local Government Unit, while Cluster 4 consisted of private schools in the city. Cluster 5 was represented by the Department of Education. Cluster 6 included members of the Solo Parents’ Association, Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Barangay Violence Against Women And Children (VAWC) Desk officers, and barangay Gender and Development (GAD) focal persons. Cluster 7 brought together the Vendors’ Associations and women farmers from DCWF Inc. Cluster 8 represented Dayung Women Leaders with the Liga ng mga Barangay. Cluster 9 was composed of the Catholic Women’s League, while Cluster 10 represented CTU-Danao Campus.





The celebration was formally declared open by Hon. Maryglie Angelie H. Delicano, Sangguniang Panlungsod member and chairperson of the Commitee on Women. An intermision number by the Collegio de San Antonio de Padua (CSAP) Dance Troupe followed, adding energy and artistic flair to the program.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Rose Mary L. Almacen, Campus Director of CTU-Danao, who highlighted the strength and impact that emerge when women and communities work together toward shared goals.
The celebration underscores Danao City’s continuing commitment to promoting gender equality and recognizing vital contributions of women in community development. Through its active participation and partnerships with the local government and community sectors, CTU-Danao remains steadfast in supporting intiatives that advance women’s empowerment and inclusive societal progress.
