CTU Danao Graduate School Launches Eco-Friendly Doormat Weaving Project

The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Danao Campus, through its Graduate School and in partnership with TESDA and Barangay Langosig, conducted the community extension project “Transforming Waste into Wealth: An Eco-Friendly Doormat Weaving Project” on April 19, 2026, in Barangay Langosig, Danao City. The initiative aimed to address waste management concerns while promoting sustainable livelihood among women.

With the support of TESDA representatives and the Barangay Captain, eight Master of Technology and Livelihood Education students majoring in Home Economics facilitated a hands-on training for 20 women beneficiaries. The participants were taught how to upcycle fabric scraps into doormats using simple weaving techniques and low-cost materials.

Beyond skills training, the project introduced basic marketing strategies to help beneficiaries sell their product locally and online, with proceeds intended to sustain their livelihood. The initiative highlighted the value of environmental stewardship and demonstrated how waste materials can be transformed into income-generating opportunities.

Through this effort, CTU Danao reaffirms its commitment to impactful extension programs that empower communities and promote sustainable development.
