The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Danao Campus, through its Extension Services and in collaboration with the LGU Danao stakeholders, conducted the coordination meeting for the GAA Extension Project titled “Professionalizing Tourism Frontliners through Certified Basic Life Support for Sustainable Tourism Safety” on May 20, 2026, at Danao City Hall. The initiative aims to enhance the emergency response capabilities of tourism frontliners and to promote a safer, more resilient tourism environment in the city.
The meeting was attended and supported by Hon. Vice Mayor Carmen Remedios “Ivy” H. Durano, who expressed her commitment to strengthening tourism safety initiatives in Danao City. The activity was led by Dr. Rodel S. Hintapan, together with Prof. Ivy Claire R. Debalucos, Prof. Chelo S. Durante, Prof. Mark Joseph C. Bernardo, Dr. Looverville D. Quiño, and Dr. Eurresse L. Talisic, who facilitated the planning and coordination of the extension project.
Discussions focused on the implementation framework of Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) training for tourism frontliners, including operational arrangements, target beneficiaries, training schedules, and inter-agency collaboration. The project seeks to equip tourism personnel with essential life-saving skills to ensure prompt and effective response during emergencies involving tourists and visitors.
Beyond skills enhancement, the initiative also emphasizes sustainable tourism safety by fostering a culture of preparedness, responsibility, and community partnership among stakeholders. The coordination meeting served as a platform to align objectives between the university and the local government unit (LGU) in advancing tourism resilience and public safety.
Through this initiative, CTU Danao reaffirms its commitment to impactful extension programs that contribute to community development, capacity building, and sustainable tourism advancement in Danao City.
