BSHM Invited An International Event Services Lead Manager For A Seminar

The BSHM Department conducted a seminar on food beverage and banquet and catering services in its initial quest to establish international linkages. Prof. Ivan Carlo M. Corriente, BSHM Program Chair, invited a seasoned international event services manager and banquet captain in the person of Ms. Althea Chiong Jakosalem as the resource person. She is an Alumna of Ronda Central Elementary School, graduated Class Salutatorian. She finished her Secondary Education at Pasadena High School in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., in 1999.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2003. She was a Student Supervisor at the University of California, San Diego Catering from r 2000 to 2003.  She is currently the Event Services Lead/Banquet Captain/Supervisor at Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine in San Diego, California, from 2003 up to the present, roughly 17 years working in the Hospitality Industry. She is the great-granddaughter of Don Dionisio Jakosalem, the great older man of Dumanjug, being the first-ever governor of Cebu Province hailed from Dumanjug. Both students and instructors of Cebu Technological University (CTU) Dumanjug attending the said webinar were amazed by the speaker’s talk shared with them. They were filled with significant and valuable insights on events hosting and banquet and catering services.
