On May 26, 2022, the Special Needs Education Department (SNED) of the CTU-Main’s College of Education finalized its pursuit of a community extension project.
The extension project entitled “The Hand that Talks” is a series of Deaf awareness and sign language training workshops for the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.
The identified target beneficiaries are the employees of VSMMC to capacitate them to develop the needed skills to communicate with their Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients.
This meeting discussed the finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement between CTU and VSMMC.
It was attended by SNED faculty composed of Drs. Nina Rozanne Delos Reyes and Lilibeth Pinili, Prof. Ann Frances Cabigon, and Ms. Precy Alarba along with VSMMC staff Mr. Joey Tandigan and Mr. Jay Carl Del Rosario.
Both agencies are hopeful that the project will start by October 2022.
