CoEd Organizes Seminar-Training on Marine Conservation in Apalan, Tuburan

In May 2023, CoEd-Main organized a seminar-training program focused on marine conservation in the coastal Barangay of Apalan, Tuburan, Cebu.

The event was attended by the Barangay Council, led by Hon. Lynyth Armas, the first counsellor, as well as local fisherfolks and homemakers.

The seminar training featured esteemed resource persons who shared their expertise. Heading the team were Prof. Esperanza M. Del Fierro, the Project Leader, Dr. Jabin Deguma, the Extension Chair, and team members Dr. Emerson Peteros and Dr. John De Vera. The BSEd Science students also actively participated in the event, and the entire program received the support of Dean Dr. Reylan G. Capuno.

This initiative was undertaken as part of the Sagip Sangtuaryo Program, an ongoing endeavour by the College of Education, CTU-Main Campus, dedicated to preserving marine ecosystems.

Through the seminar training, participants gained valuable insights and knowledge regarding marine conservation. The event provided a platform for interactive discussions, presentations, and practical demonstrations, enabling attendees to understand the significance of protecting and preserving the marine environment. The topics covered ranged from sustainable fishing practices to biodiversity conservation, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in safeguarding marine resources.

CoEd-Main remains committed to promoting environmental consciousness and sustainable practices within local communities. The seminar training in Apalan, Tuburan, was an important step towards fostering a deeper understanding of marine conservation and empowering individuals to become active advocates for protecting our oceans.
