On the first week of June 2023, the College of Education- Main faculty conducted a training on Financial Literacy and Marine Protected Area (MPA) Management Effectiveness Assessment Tool (MEAT) at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Tuburan, Cebu.
The fisherfolks, homemakers, and the Barangay Captain, Honorable Rowel Gemparo, attended the activity. It was facilitated by the project leader, Prof. Esperanza Del Fierro, together with project member Dr. Margie Fulgencio, and project consultants Prof. Elisa Payod and Prof. Mario Marababol, with the support of the dynamic College Dean, Dr. Reylan Capuno.
The training on financial literacy provides the community with the needed knowledge on personal and community management of their finances. While the MPA MEAT gives them the vital capacity to monitor the MPA and manage it effectively. The sessions allowed the participants to share their experiences and discuss their management practices which helped them evaluate the effectiveness of their management strategies using the MPA MEAT.
