Reigniting Awareness and Extinguishing Ignorance

On March 31st, 2023, the College of Education Students’ Society in Cebu Technological University-Main Campus held a Risk Reduction Inclusive Seminar with this year’s theme, “Sa Pag Iwas ng Sunog, Di’ka Nag-iisa” at the COED Multipurpose Hall, CTU-main to mark the celebration of fire prevention month.

The seminar’s goal was to test the effectiveness of the student’s emergency preparedness and response in case of fire and assist them in being aware of the fire hazards inside and outside school premises.

The said activity was attended by the faculty of the College of Education, composed: Dr. Reylan G. Capuno, College Dean, and the faculty consisting of Dr. Raymond Espina; Dr. Honorio Añora; Dr. Juliet Mandado; Dr. Charisma Lumayag; Dr. Irene Mamites; Ms. Mae Entece; Dr. Mary Anne Villaganas; and Dr. Regina Sitoy.

Approximately 150 students participated in the conference coming from the following courses: BTVTEd, BTLEd, BSEd, BECED, BEED, BSNED, and CT-SPED, respectively.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Parian Fire Station was generous to impart its expertise to the students of the College of Education. FO3 Clyde E. Cambriana led the discussion of the nature of fire and fire safety. Further, matters concerning fire response and fire fighting equipment were carefully dished out with the BFP facilitator personnel: FO1 Ariel Jay Torion, FO3 Ralph Lynde Tabura, and FO1 Jill Niño A. Vestil.

With a blazing determination to learn the drill in putting off a fire, the searing afternoon sun did not extinguish the eagerness of the Education Students and the College of Education faculty, the BFP Parian Fire Station, and the CTU Main Quick Response Team.
