Sewing Skills Training for DSWD Beneficiaries

The Cebu Technological University-Main College of Technology (COT) Community Extension Team conducted its 5-day training April 17-21, 2023, in connection to its program, “Sewing Skills Training for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Beneficiary” at DSWD F07—Home for Girls, Labangon, Cebu City. 

The activity was organized to equip the youth of DSWD F07 with sewing skills they can use for personal growth and future endeavors. Mrs. Jennifer Abastillas, DSWD Center Head, welcomed the activity with Engr. Rebecca A. Miraballes, OIC-Extension Chairperson, College of Technology-CTU, Dr. Nolasco K. Malabago, Dean, CTU Main-College of Technology, Dr. Maria Esther F. Medalla, Lead Proponent/Training Specialist, Therese Erlyn B. Napuli, President, KALFI LEAD BATCH 2022, and the Community Extension Team of the College of Technology Faculty and Students. 

CTU-Main has sealed a partnership with DSWD F07 Home for Girls Labangon as the two institutions synergized in developing the potential of the young DSWD beneficiaries in crafting materials out of garments. 

Twelve young female beneficiaries and nine DSWD Home for Girls houseparents were conferred certificates upon completing their training.

The fruit of the undertaking was unravelled as the participants showcased their finished products in the form of clothes, scrunchies, and other clothing items.
