Harmonizing Excellence: CTU’s Graduate Program Curriculum Alignment Seminar-Workshop

The Cebu Technological University – Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) orchestrated a five-day seminar-workshop with a primary focus on curriculum alignment and mapping for the graduate programs in accordance with the recently endorsed curriculum. This endeavor aimed to establish the desired educational outcomes and harmonize them with the curriculum of the Graduate Education program offerings across various campuses. The creation of unified Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), and curriculum maps is deemed crucial for the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) application. The event took place at the 6th-floor Function Hall of the Centennial Building, CTU Main Campus, scheduled from September 11 to 15, 2023.

The impetus behind this workshop is the Evaluation Reports from the Joint Technical Panel for Teacher Education (TPTE) and the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) during the Onsite Validation Visit of the Graduate Education Programs, conducted from August 14 to 17, 2023, at CTU Danao Campus, CTU San Francisco Campus, CTU Main Campus, and CTU Argao Campus. Two pivotal requirements were found to be unfulfilled: Curriculum Alignment and Mapping and Graduate Program Manual of Operations (GPMO).

In addition to addressing these deficiencies, the seminar also aimed to deliberate on and formulate the Graduate Program Manual of Operations (GPMO) for the university. This manual will incorporate the pertinent provisions outlined in CMO 15, s. 2019, Section 14 – Institutional Arrangements. It is of utmost importance that all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) establish a well-structured system for rationalizing graduate program offerings, encompassing aspects related to curriculum, research, creative work, supervision, and resource generation, all of which will be included in the GPMO. The graduate programs are mandated to adhere to these recommendations by September 17, 2023, as part of the COPC application process.

To facilitate the achievement of the objectives of the aforementioned workshop, Dr. Hedeliza A. Pineda, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, has extended invitations to notable speakers. Dr. Filomena T. Dayagbil, former University President and University Professor at Cebu Normal University (CNU). Additionally, Dr. Fritzgerald Kintanar, Dean of the College of Education at CTU – Argao Campus, will lead a discussion on the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) Framework and Graduate Program Outcomes.

The participants include the University Dean of Instruction, University Director for Curriculum, Planning and Development, all Campus Deans of Instruction, Graduate School Deans, Graduate School Focal Persons, and VPAA staff. The faculty of the graduate school also collaborated and worked on developing the program’s curriculum maps and the Graduate Program Manual of Operations (GPMO) to ensure alignment with the desired curriculum standards and requirements for the COPC application.
