CTU Faculty-Researchers Immersed in DOST’s Call Conference for Visayas Region

On February 8, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology brought together researchers from Region VII for the National Research and Development Call Conference for Visayas at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City.

The event commenced with a Welcome Remarks by Engr. Jesus Zamora Jr., DOST VII Regional Director, setting the tone for the conference. Following this, Dr. Leah Buendia, the Undersecretary for Research and Development, delivered a significant message to the attendees.

The conference agenda featured the presentation of DOST-GIA funded projects and Council Presentations of Priority Areas. These sessions were strategically organized before the lunch break, providing the audience with relevant and useful information. The presentations aimed to inspire researchers and stakeholders, urging them to start conceptualizing their research proposals and concept papers.

Among the distinguished attendees from CTU faculty across campuses were Dr. Archiebald Baltazar Malaki, Dr. Jonathan Maglasang, Dr. Cristie Ann L. Jaca, Dr. Esperanza del Fiero, Dr. Hana Astrid Canseco – Tunacao, Dr. Maria Gemel Palconit, Engr. Aure Flo Oraya, Dr. Wilen Melsedec Narvios, Engr. Marchel Bentoy, and Dr. Resti Tito Villarino.

Looking ahead to the 2026 Call for Proposals for the DOST and Council Grants in Aid Program, researchers and stakeholders from across the Visayas are gearing up. The conference equipped them to generate high-impact proposals capable of addressing critical challenges, facilitating effective technology transfer, and making substantial contributions to various industries and communities.
