MOALBOAL, CEBU — A juvenile green sea turtle was rescued and released on June 14, 2025, at Panagsama Beach by the College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences (CFAS) of CTU–Moalboal, in coordination with local authorities.
Found by a tourist guide, the turtle was turned over to Bantay Dagat and brought to the CFAS facility.
Dean Prof. Robinson S. Amihan Jr. reported that the turtle had likely ingested a fishing hook. Without a wildlife rehabilitation permit, CFAS worked with DENR–TSPS 7 and brought the turtle to San Roque Animal Clinic in Carcar City, where a 1.6 x 2 cm hook was removed.
After observation, the turtle was released the same evening. This marks CFAS’s eighth marine turtle stranding response since 2021.
