The testimonial dinner began right after the thanksgiving mass at 5:00 PM. Students, passers, teachers, and guests show off their smart casual attires as they proceed onto the event’s highlight.
The main event followed right after the dinner with a processional ceremony at around 6 PM onward.
Dr. Eldie V. Abenido, the Campus Director, welcomed everyone in the event and said: “Participating in this ceremony symbolizes a profound commitment to work and relationship that takes place between the teacher and student family, community and society as well as your commitment to lifelong learning and professionalism.”
Moreover, Dr. Antonieta V. Minyamin, the Director of CEAS, introduced the speakers to the audience to share their testimonies about the journey that they had until they reached this “point in their lives.”
The first speaker, Kenneth L. Sanchez, a BLEPT Passer from BEED, reminisces about the same event he attended when he was a pre-service teacher, and how he got inspired by the speakers on that night.
“I made a promise to myself that [while] listening to our speakers that night and then their stories and experiences inspired us……it came to myself that next year…ikaw moy mag-tindog dinha sa atubangan… I realized that today, wako kahibaw nga matinuod diay to siya,” he said.
Jessie Marie Lambo, also a BLEPT Passer from BEED shared her words of inspiration to the Future LPTs: “…this is the beginning for your success. Before becoming what you want as a teacher, before you can feel the joy of influencing children to be the best versions of themselves, you have to get your license. Make this your ultimate goal. Don’t just dream for it, pray and work for it.”
Ronald C. Gaballo, top 10 LET 2017 Passer from Cebu Normal University and one of the event speakers, also gave his remarks and words of inspiration: “A person’s mind is so powerful. We can invent, create, experience and destroy things with thoughts alone. So therefore, always end the day with a positive thought, no matter how hard things went; tomorrow [is a] fresh opportunity to make it better.”
After witnessing the testimonies by the aforementioned speakers, the giving of recognition and certificates to 2019 CTU Moalboal BLEPT Passers and special awardees for Pre-service teachers commenced with the assistance of Prof. Catherine P. Tapales – BEED, Prof. Maria Amparo M. Sambrana – BSEd-TLE, Prof. Johnry P. Dayupay – BSEd-Math, and Prof. Ana Jean L. Ebarsabal.
The pinning ceremony came in right after handing out the certificates, followed by acceptance speeches, symbolic candle lighting, pictorials, and closing remarks by the Chair of Teacher of Education, Mrs. Nilde T. Chabit.
In one of Dr. Abenido’s statements in his opening remarks, he said that this event served as an opportunity for LPT Passers “as new teacher candidates to recognize the depth of commitment” to this “profession and the society as a whole.”/Percival R. Mabanto
