“Iba” Jam production launched in Naga

Cebu Technological University (CTU) Naga launched its Extension Program in 2019-2020 in Barangay North Poblacion, City of Naga, Cebu.

On February 22, 2020, the faculty together with the junior BSEd-TLE students featured the Iba (Camias) Jam-making. The said event started with an Orientation and a product lecture that was followed by a fruit preservation processing and demonstration. Excited Parents and children in the neighborhood gather at the barangay hall and the newly installed mini-stores from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The Feeding Program was another activity spearheaded on March 1, 2020 in the same venue. The day centered on the tutorial activities for children and the distribution of school supplies by volunteer students that stirred the expectant children of the community. The parents, on the other hand, had their lecture session and skills training on product labeling conducted by Prof. Francis Val Gamboa together with Extension Coordinator Prof. Aldrin Dela Cerna and some assigned faculty members for the week’s event .

A lecture on consumer rights on Iba Jam production culminated in the extension program in the adapted barangay on March 7, 2020. It was indeed very fulfilling to reach out to the community and share a practical livelihood program while discovering some useful natural resources in the locality./Rumuela L.
