Cebu Technological University–Naga Extension Campus (CTU-NEC) welcomed a delegation of Japanese local government officials and representatives from their respective Boards of Education on July 22, 2026, as part of the City Government of Naga’s initiative to strengthen international cooperation and educational partnerships.
The delegation represented Mashiki Town, Kikuchi City, Kamiamakusa City, and Nakama City, with Mr. Norihisa Yobuki of JP-Holdings Inc., Tokyo, Japan, serving as the delegation coordinator. Although classroom observation, as previously requested, could not be conducted because regular university classes will start in August, CTU–Naga administration, faculty, students, and personnel warmly accommodated the delegation.
Atty. Marvey A. Ocampo, OIC Campus Director, expressed the university’s appreciation for being included in the international visit and commended the City Government of Naga for spearheading this undertaking that advances educational collaboration and cross-cultural engagement.
The visit formed part of the activities that led to the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the City Government of Naga and the participating Japanese local government units and educational institutions. The partnership seeks to promote English-language learning and educational exchange, cultural understanding between Japan and the Philippines, career readiness and global opportunities for Naga residents, and the implementation of a free Japanese-language course program.
This initiative opened promising avenues for future academic exchanges and collaborative programs among CTU–Naga, the City Government, and its international partners. It likewise underscored the university’s growing role in building educational connections that extend beyond the local community and prepare learners for meaningful participation in an increasingly interconnected world. /RBustos
