Cebu Technological University Daanbantayan Campus received a Certificate of Appreciation from Commission on Higher Education Region 7 (CHEDRO-7) for the generous support during the proper vaccination of the college students teaching and non-teaching personnel of higher education institutions during the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days on November 29, 2021, at CTU DB grounds.
The Department of Health, the LGU Daanbantayan, CTU Daanbantayan and CHED Region 7 joined efforts to conduct the massive immunization campaign.
Education Supervisor, Dr Leonardo R. Tanael Jr. representing CHED Regional Director Dr Maximo C. Aljibe said he was happy and surprised to have witnessed thousands of individuals, including students, among the great crowds waiting to be vaccinated.
“Truly, I have not expected this number. I am just as glad as our Regional Director would be if only he were here to see this crowd. To our CTU personnel and students, I commend your urgent and positive response to getting inoculated. Your participation is one great help of reaching herd community and necessary preparation for limited face to face classes,” expressed Dr Tanael in his talk during the Orientation.
Other prominent personalities who graced the proper vaccination were Dr Merle Visda, Municipal Health Officer, Municipal Administrator Dr Hazelita N. Malaga, representing Municipal Mayor Sun J. Shimura and Campus Director Ruben M. Ungui.
Dr Malaga, in her speech, reinforced people’s desire of getting the vaccine by sharing a miserable COVID-19 experience of a relative.
“…do not wait for the time when you will regret not doing now what you could have done to save lives, including yours. Let us be proactive and respond to our government’s vaccination effort…,” Malaga remarked.
The thousands of jabbed individuals were not only the personnel and students of CTU Daanbantayan, but it also accounted for other government employees, including that of DepEd and college students from other HEIs and the townspeople. – Tsereyl Verdida / DaanBantayan Campus
