Website Article Writing Workshop Series (Part II): Rules on Effective Writing

The Center for Communication and Media (CCM) conducted its Part II of Website Article Writing Workshop Series via zoom held on February 21, 2022.

The main topic for the Series, Part II workshop, was the various rules on “Effective Writing” where it aims to develop the writing skills of faculty, students, and non-teaching staff across all campuses of Cebu Technological University/

Under the leadership of Dr Cristie Ann L. Jaca, University Director for Communication and Media (CCM), the online workshop made it possible by choosing Prof. Junas Flores, an educator and a media practitioner of Communication. He was the editor of the Cebuano film “Kapyot: The Jeepney Rappers Story” and the scriptwriter of the film “Katatagan”, one of the finalists of the Philippine Commission on Women’s Short Film Competition last 2014. Also, a member of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ). He has been working as Communication Professor at Cebu Technological University and as a news and feature writer at The Freeman- Banat Newspaper since 2015. Lastly, he is the current Technical Advise of the Nation Builder.

The 48 participants who attended the webinar heard and witnessed the Welcome Remarks of Dr Hedeliza A. Pineda, OIC-Vice President of Academic Affairs. At the same time after that, Dr Jaca introduced the speaker.

The workshop split into two sessions: morning and afternoon.

After hearing the morning session, the lady of ceremonies, Dr Maria Salud Delos Santos, made a host-participant interaction. The participants produced one article based on what they had learned from the speaker.

Dr Adrian P. Ybañez, Vice-President for Research and Development, concluded the activity through Closing Remarks. In his message, he gave thanks for pursuing such training that will benefit the CTU personnel and strengthen the written article on the website.

The Website Article Writing Workshop Series will be monthly to elevate the quality of CTU Research Website written article that will constantly be uploaded based on each campus’s newsworthy achievements and activities. – Almie Mata / CTU-Main
