The College of Education (CoEd) of the Cebu Technological University-San Fernando extension campus will have a professor in the undergraduate programs, who will be a holder of a degree in D.octor of Philosophy major in Mathematics-Education (PhD Math-Ed.)
After completing the academic requirements and successfully passing the rigorous, comprehensive examinations amid the ongoing challenges contributed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and the onslaughts of the super typhoon Odette “Rai” in Central Visayas, particularly in Cebu province, Prof. Roma Mendoza-Anoos is now writing for her dissertation leading to PhD Math-Ed degree from the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Los Baños, Laguna, thru a scholarship grant from the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).
She finished her Master in Education major in Mathematics (MEd-Math) from the University of the Philippines – Visayas, (UPVC) Cebu campus and her Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-Math) from the University of San Carlos (USC) Cebu City.
The state university hired Prof. R. M. Anoos in November 2017 for the College of Education Department in CTU-San Fernando extension campus, San Fernando, Cebu. Before her tertiary teaching career, she also had experience teaching in the private and public secondary schools in Talisay and Cebu Cities.
Before Prof. Anoos’ employment in CTU, as she was still at the private university, she had had an approved grant scholarship from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the program in PhD Math-Ed during her neophyte in the UPOU. She opted to have her CHED scholarship grant cancelled upon knowing that she would be hired in a state university, which she missed years back for some reason.
Fortunately, in December 2017, a month after Prof. Anoos was employed in CTU, the DOST-SEI emailed her to comply with the list of scholarship grant requirements for the agency to scrutinize if she deserves it.
One of the requirements for the said scholarship was the nomination of the, no less than, the CTU president, Dr Rosien A. Ancheta, Jr., upon the recommending approval of the campus directors of the main and the extension campuses, Dr Joseph C. Pepito and Dr Gregorio P. Pajaron, Jr. and also, with the university vice-presidents for Administration and Finance and the Academic Affairs, Dr Jerlito A. Letrondo and the late Dr Edwin A. Pilapil.
Luckily, a month later, in January 2018, the DOST-SEI awarded her a six-year scholarship study grant in UPOU Los Baños for PhD Math-Ed program. A scholar has these benefits, such as a six-unit underload teaching every semester, book allowance, a stipend every month, a full study-leave in preparation for the comprehensive examinations, and during the writing of a dissertation, with a total salary every month and other incentives from the sending university, etc.
Anoos co-authored two (2) researches, entitled: Outer-convex Dominating Set in the Corona of Graphs as Encryption Key Generator, and Outer-weakly Convex Domination Number of Graphs in collaboration with local and international universities. Both scientific studies were published in the Scopus Journals /Wilfredo G. Anoos, CTU – San Fernando Extension campus.
