CTU-Carmen Teacher Education Department stepping towards excellence

Dr. Ursina S. Juntilla, Dean College of Education, CTU-Carmen

The Teacher Education Department of Cebu Technological University –Carmen Campus is trying to hone quality teachers’ pre-service elementary and high school.

We hope to render quality learning to our students consistently and one-day mark history through having top-notch board passers, said Dr Ursina S. Juntilla, Dean Teacher Education.

For several years, the department has been conducting mock board examinations among its graduating students to prepare them for the licensure examination, said Mrs Anna Marie Neiz, BSED Chairperson.

Moreover, since their first year, they have been trained to take multiple-choice examinations to sharpen their ability in answering multiple-choice questions correctly, she added.

The department is starting to climb its way to excellence in Teacher Education as it earned itself a hundred per cent passing percentage in the September 2021 Elementary Teachers Licensure Examination.

20 BEED graduates took the licensure examination, and luckily, all of them passed, said Mrs Anna Marie Neiz.

In the Secondary Teachers Licensure Examination, the department reached more than 60 per cent in the national passing percentage in the same year.

Meanwhile, the department has also purchased new facilities for its Educational Technology Laboratory to enhance quality and advanced learning for our students. – Jihan Comeros / CTU-Carmen
