The CTU Gender aent (GAD) directors conducted a four-day seminar happened on May 4-7, 2022, at the Summit Galleria Hotel, Cebu City.
The seminar focuses on the Basic Gender Analysis (GA) and GA tools for research, development, extension management and Implementation.
During Day 1, Ms Leny Ocasiones, Associate Professor of the University of San Carlos, PCW National GAD Resource Pool (GRP), discussed concerning Review of Basic Gender and Development Concept Relevant to Gender Analysis and Introduction to Gender Analysis.
While Dr Rosalyn Alburo, Director –Director of Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center (BENRC), was the speaker on the 2nd and the final day of the event, which focuses on the Use of Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) in GAD Planning and Budgeting, Gender Analysis Framework and Tools, Collection and Use of SSD and Gender Statistics and the making of Proposals with HGDG Score.
Nearly 130 faculty across campuses attended the seminar headed by Dr Hedeliza Pineda, OIC Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Dr Adrian Ybañez, Vice-President for Research and Development.
The GAD guidelines seek to promote gender equality and women empowerment. Also, it specifically aims to provide CTU stakeholders with a common set of analytical concepts and tools for integrating gender concerns into development programs and projects; in compliance with the mandate of the Philippine Commission on Women in the conduct of GAD related activities for the University and help achieve gender equality and empower women through projects and programs.
The participants were expected to provide the outputs composed of:
a. Accomplishment report for GAD to be submitted to the Philippine Women Commission (PCW); and
b. GA Gender Analysis Tools for Research, Development, and Extension Management; and
c. Implementation of the tools for all the Research and Extension activities and projects required by the PCW.
The 4-days seminar complies with the finding of the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) directive to utilize the Harmonized Gender and Development (HGDG) tool, which was organized by GAD of CTU-main Campus headed by Engr. Teresita Capin, under the leadership of Prof. Marlou Godinez, CTU, University Director for Gender and Development / Almie Mata – CCM.
