In 2020, the Cebu Technological University (CTU) obtained an overall rating of three stars by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars team.
Thus, such attainment gave Leyte Normal University (LNU) an initiative to invite the CTU’s former Vice President for Research and Development (VPRD), an expert who had a massive contribution to such achievement, as a speaker at their two-day orientation for QS Star Ranking and Operationalization at HRDC Gymnasium on August 30, 2022.
Dr. Adrian Ybañez, former VPRD, shared his expertise with LNUs’ executive officials and faculty on how to acquire QS Stars.

CTU, as a three-star university, is nationally well recognized. QS Stars system rates the University against a range of important performance indicators grouped into seven categories: teaching, employability, academic development, online learning, social responsibility, inclusiveness, and program strength.
Dr. Evelyn Aguirre, LNU President, indicated that University rankings contribute to the reputation in terms of its accomplishment in various fields.
Moreover, with the aim of LNU to enter the Philippine and Asia QS ranking to be part of the World QS Ranking in the succeeding years, the said CTU expert also imparted his strategies and knowledge to get a spot in various international achievements which CTU received.
CTU has also begun to earn global recognition, such as QS Asia, THE WURI, and WEBOMETRICS, and such triumph was made possible with the massive aid of Dr. Ybañez.
The LNU considers international recognition beneficial in strengthening the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) toward internalization and global standards.
