The Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB), facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Development (OVPRD), successfully conducted a Training on Basic Research Ethics on July 4-5, 2024, via a hybrid setup at the 2nd Floor Learning Commons, Science and Technology Building, Cebu Technological University (CTU)-Main Campus. The two-day training brought together members of the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) and the Local Research Ethics Committees (LREC) (as they will be responsible for overseeing ethical reviews on their campuses) to deepen their understanding of ethical principles in research.

The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge of ethical standards, focusing on the responsible conduct of research, informed consent, confidentiality, and the proper handling of human subjects. Expert facilitators from PHREB delivered engaging lectures, presented real-world case studies, and conducted interactive discussions, creating a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the training, emphasizing how it enhanced their understanding of ethical matters. Hence, CTU remains steadfast in its mission to promote ethical research education, empowering its researchers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism
