As part of the Sustaining Research Capabilities for the Futures Initiative, the Cebu Technological University (CTU) – Office of the Vice President for Research and Development (OVPRD) recently conducted a specialized training entitled Research Capability Building for Beginners and Novice Researchers. This event targeted faculty members from CTU-CCMC, aiming to strengthen their foundational research skills and knowledge through a HyFlex modality.
The four-day training was conducted in two phases: Days 1 and 2 (August 5 & 12, 2024) were held online via Zoom, while Days 3 and 4 (August 19 & 20, 2024) featured hands-on activities conducted in person at the 6th Floor Function Hall, Centennial Building, CTU-Main Campus.
The program offered a comprehensive lineup of topics, including an introduction to the OVPRD’s structure, strategic planning, and operational plans. Participants also explored crafting research objectives, basic scientific writing, advancing literature reviews, and conceptualizing theoretical frameworks. Specialized sessions addressed Gender and Development (GAD) integration in research, intellectual property (IP) asset management, and grantsmanship fundamentals.
This initiative focused on understanding the roles and functions of the RD’s umbrella offices, equipping participants with the tools to navigate institutional processes and maximize resources for research endeavors.
