Cebu Technological University (CTU) – Office of the Vice President for Research and Development through the Climate Change and Resiliency – Argao Campus recently hosted a series of impactful events focused on Climate Change Initiatives to foster environmental sustainability within the academic community. Held throughout November 2024, these events brought together various stakeholders, including faculty, student leaders, and university staff, to engage in critical discussions and practical workshops. The initiatives began with the โ€œClimate Change for Higher Educationโ€ sessions on November 5 and 12 via online, followed by a special event on November 18 at CTU-Main Campus for student leaders, focusing on their role in addressing climate change. A hands-on field workshop on carbon mapping was conducted on November 19 at CTU-Argao Campus, culminating in the โ€œClimate Change Initiatives for the Futures of University Sustainabilityโ€ event from November 20-22, 2024 at CTU-Argao Campus.

These activities exemplified CTUโ€™s commitment to equipping the university community with the knowledge and tools to address the pressing challenges of climate change. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts, learn innovative strategies for sustainability, and collaborate on long-term solutions that can be implemented within the university and beyond. The diverse range of sessions and workshops highlighted the universityโ€™s proactive approach to sustainability and its dedication to creating a climate-conscious environment, preparing the next generation of leaders to take action on global environmental issues.
